Koru of New Zealand

The koru (KOH – roo) is a coil shape derived from New Zealand and the frond of the fern plant. The shoot of the fern has a curled-over tip which unfurls into a full leaf.

The koru represents the unfolding of new life, the continuous circle of life, and new beginnings. It represents renewal and hope for the future, reaching towards the light, striving for perfection, encouraging positive new beginnings...

Me pictured with my beautiful baby, Grace

I believe that pregnancy is a time to celebrate, a time which culminates in the birth of a baby and of the mother. Even if this is your second or third child, you are born anew with each birth. Each experience should be treasured, kept safe and sacred, and guided with the loving hand of providers and a Doula who respect your wishes.

I chose to walk the path of the Doula because of my passion for pregnancy, childbirth, and newborns which developed during my own pregnancy. The new mother and baby thrive with the proper support in place to help them bond and get off to the best start. This time is also critical for the father and the rest of the family to come together to welcome the person they created.
